How do i know if i am dealing with an official BAILIFFS, DEBT COLLECTORS & DEBT RECOVERY AGENTS...

Whoever might visit you, (be it a bailiff or a debt collector,) always remember to ask them for identification. Bailiffs collecting for warrants must show their certificate from the county court when you ask them to. Bailiffs collecting unpaid council tax must show written authorisation from the local council.

Are Debt Collectors Court officials?

Debt Collectors are not court officials and do not have the same powers as bailiffs so they have no right to enter your house and they cannot seize your possessions (except in certain circumstances – see recovery agents).
